5 Tips To Clear and Radiant Skin

ree

Skin is made of collagen and is what keeps it firm. As we age the collagen breaks down, and can cause our skin to lose its tone and radiance.

Here are our top 5 tips to help keep your skin dewy and plump.

Tip 1. Limit your intake of caffeine, sugar and processed food.

Caffeine can cause your blood vessels to constrict which means your skin wont deliver as many anti-oxidants and nutrients which help with collagen production. Cutting down or eliminating caffeine will go a long way in helping your skin look and feel radiant.

Tip 2. Avoid too much alcohol.

Alcohol is very dehydrating to your skin and internal organs, thus drinking lots of alcohol may make your skin dry, wrinkled, grey, puffy or bloated. Again the secret is balance, enjoying a glass or 2 occasionally is a wonderful way to unwind or relax with friends, however over indulging may have an impact on your health and skin.

Tip 3. Hydrate yourself by drinking plenty of fresh filtered water.

While coffee and alcohol my dehydrate your skin, ensure you stay hydrated by drinking plenty of fresh filtered water.

Some other wonderful benefits of drinking water has on your skin are faster healing, less acne, slower ageing, less puffiness and smaller pores. The Mayo clinic recommends drinking between 2-21/2 litres of water a day for women.

Tip 4. Get plenty of quality sleep.

Skin makes new collagen while you are sleeping. Patricia Wexler a dermatologist in New York said "more collagen means skin is plumper and less likely to wrinkle. Only getting 5 hours a night can lead to twice as many fine lines as sleeping 7 would." I guess the saying "get enough beauty sleep" is true after all.

Tip 5. Exfoliate Weekly.

Regularly exfoliating increases your skin's radiance, clarity, and youthfulness, plus it may help unclog pores, prevent acne, even skin tone and boost circulation and lymphatic drainage. So many reasons and benefits to including a regular exfoliating routine.
